Disney Sisters: August 2011

Brenda Song Pixie Hollow Games Interview

Just a few days before the big news broke that Brenda Song is expecting, we had a chance to interview her at the D23 Expo. We did a side-by-side interview with our friend, and fellow mom blogger, Caryn aka Rockin' Mama. During the interview there were many Disney fans surrounding us. At one point they were crowding and pushing and for a moment I got a feeling of what it is like to be a celebrity. It was a pretty intense.

Brenda Song is one of our favorite Disney Channel Stars. She has been playing different roles for a long time on the Disney Channel. We have watched her grow up, and our kids have grown up with her. You probably know her best from her longest starring role as London Tipton, on "The Suite Life of Zack and Cody" and "The Suite Life on Deck." Some of her other Disney roles include, the Disney Channel Original Movie "Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior" and the Walt Disney Movie "College Road Trip."

She was at the D23 Expo promoting her newest role as Chloe in the upcoming world premiere television event "Pixie Hollow Games"with her co-stars Tiffany Thornton "So Random" and Jason Dolley "Good Luck Charlie." In the latest Tinkerbell movie, produced by Disney Toon Studios, Brenda plays Chloe a spirited Garden Fairy who tries to help her fellow Garden Fairies win the games for the first time. The movie premieres this fall on the Disney Channel.

Although at the time, we had no idea of her pregnancy, now that I think back she was wearing a very loose blouse that day... hmmm. Either way Brenda is adorable, a very sweet young lady. She was truly a pleasure to interview. The Disney Sisters wish her all the best, whether her next role is a Mommy or not.

We are sad that the D23 Expo has officially come to a close! We have finally taken our ears off. (He-He) We had such an awesome time and met so many amazing people! It was really Disney Magic at it's BEST! Now comes the fun part. We are looking forward to sharing with you all of our experiences from the Ultimate Disney Fan Event. From Interviews to Red Carpet Photos, from the Disney Products Toys and Games... Disney Sisters have got you covered!

On Thursday night, we attended a special media reception and preview of the D23 Expo. The best part was, we were allowed to go into the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives and take photos and video, which during the rest of the Expo was not permitted. (The beauty of being Press) They had so many different props, clothing, posters, set pieces that are all priceless parts of Disney history. Here are a few of our favorites including memorabilia from the Mouseketeers, Alice in Wonderland, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, 101 Dalmations, Sleeping Beauty Book and more. Enjoy!

Do you have a favorite piece of Disney history you would like to see, or a question about what we've shared here? Please, leave us a comment, we want to hear from you!

Disney Pop! Vinyl Figures give Vinylmations some Competition

If you haven't been to the Disney Store lately, you are missing out on a new collectible item that is giving the popular Vinylmations a run for their money! Introducing POP! Vinyl Figures by Funko. They are TOTALLY adorable with big heads & little bodies. Each affordably priced at $12.50, they have 12 characters that are in this first group of collectibles including these Disney favorites:

    1.) Mickey Mouse
    2.) Buzz Lightyear
    3.) Woody
    4.) Sulley
    5.) Mike Wazowski
    6.) Pinocchio
    7.) Jiminy Cricket
    8.) Snow White
    9.) Maleficent
    10.) Tinkerbell
    11.) Cruella De Vil
    12.) Stitch

Which ones will you collect? We just bought some for our kids, my older daughter chose Mike Wazowski & my younger daughter picked out Jiminy Cricket. My personal favorite is Snow White. My husband likes Stitch. Which one is your favorite? Do you think Pop! Vinyl Figures will become as popular as Vinylmations? One of the good things about them is that you can see the character that you are buying, so you don't get stuck with one you don't want. Or is that part of the success of Vinylmations, that it's a gamble, and you never know which one you are going to get? Is trading Vinylmations half the fun? What do you think?
