LEGO Star Wars Miniland: The Force is Strong at Legoland California

A Long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away...

Okay actually it was a few weekends ago and it was not that far away, only about a 2 hours drive to San Diego, CA. Ever since we've heard about LEGO Star Wars Miniland at Legoland we've been dying to go. This year my daughter said instead of a party she wanted to go to Legoland for her 8th Birthday. We figured it was time to visit the Park and see just how strong the Force was there.

It was our first time ever visiting Legoland California and our youngest could not contain her excitement. (Truth be told, we were all pretty stoked.) We are big fans of LEGO in our house and getting to see a place that was practically made from these little bricks was enough to make us all geek out.

With The Force Awakens soon to be released our fandom for Star Wars has been renewed. Seeing scenes recreated all from LEGO was pretty incredible. From epic battle scenes to a life-sized Chewbacca, Legoland is definitely a must-do for Star Wars and LEGO enthusiasts of all ages.

So what's exactly at the Lego Star Wars Miniland? Guests can enjoy seven of the most famous scenes from the six live-action Star Wars movies, as well as a scene from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars all made out of 1.5 million LEGO bricks built in 1:20 scale. We tried our best to capture it all and we're thrilled to share with you - it was SO COOL!!!

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace - NABOO
Naboo is one of the most geographically varied planets in the Star Wars galaxy. This scene depicts the Battle of Naboo and the capital Theed – both the Royal Palace and the hangar can be seen here. In this battle scene, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn encounter and fight the Sith apprentice, Darth Maul. Look closely at the details of this scene, but  not so close that you may be pulled to the dark side!

Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones -  GEONOSIS

In this scene, visitors have a fantastic view of the Geonosis arena, in which Padmé Amidala, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker battle ferocious creatures. Witness the clash between Count Dooku’s droid army and the Grand Army of the Republic.

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith - KASHYYYK & MUSTAFAR

In this scene, two planets are revealed: Kashyyyk and Mustafar. On one side, you'll be placed right into the Battle of Kashyyyk – the home of Chewbacca and the Wookiees. Here you'll discover fantastic vehicles modeled from LEGO bricks, such as the massive Clone Turbo Tank. On the other side, catch a glimpse of the fateful duel on Mustafar between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope - TATOOINE

Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, C-3PO and R2-D2 can be spotted in this desert planet...introducing Tatooine. Here you'll discover Uncle Owen’s moisture farm, where Luke Skywalker lived as a child; peek inside the Cantina where the animated Cantina Band plays and stand above the spaceport where the largest LEGO model of Han Solo's famous starship, the Millennium Falcon, sits ready for take-off.

Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back - HOTH

The Rebels take refuge on this icy planet, but the Empire tracks them down and the Rebels are forced to flee. Introducing....Hoth. This scene features LEGO models of the Imperial AT-ATs, Rebel snowspeeders and Luke Skywalker’s X-wing starfighter. Look closely and you'll see Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Princess Leia.

Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi -  ENDOR

Next we travel to a forest moon and home of the Ewoks, who fight against the Imperial Forces alongside the Rebels...Endor. The Endor system plays a key role in Return of the Jedi as the site of the Battle of Endor, fought to prevent construction of the second Death Star. This scene presents the final victory of the Rebel Alliance over the Empire. Here you can view a large-scale model of an Imperial shuttle on its landing platform, delivering a fearsome passenger - the Dark Lord of the Sith himself, Darth Vader.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars - CHRISTOPHSIS

The seventh area brings us to a scene from the animated series The Clone Wars on the planet Christophsis. Chronologically, the series takes place between Episode II and Episode III and focuses on the adventures of Jedi Knights Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. The LEGO scene depicts part of the planet’s surface, with the largest of all LEGO Star Wars™ models: an approximately 8-foot tall building from the Crystal City. You will also a scene showing a battle between Separatist battle droids and Republic clone troopers.

Guests will be further immersed into the Star Wars experience as they pose (maybe even take a selfie) with these life-size LEGO models.

DEATH STAR
But our favorite display was probably the ultimate Star Wars icon, the DEATH STAR Model Display! The perfect 'piece de resistance' to complete the incredible LEGO collection at Legoland. Made with half a million Legos, this scale model is approx 13-feet high and 8-feet wide, making it so heavy (weighing almost 2,000 pounds) that when built it had to be forklifted into place.

It's impressive when you see it from across Star Wars Miniland, and it becomes even more awesome when you get a closer look. From the planet-destroying super laser on top that really lights up, to tiny spacecraft circling around it. The massive display portrays the famous scene of 1977 from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope where Luke Skywalker flys his X-wing fighter and ultimately destroys the Death Star. Then another display case right next too it gives a detailed closer look. How incredible is this you guys? My husband was totally fan boying, but when I looked around I saw every grown man in the place doing the same thing! RAD.

It was definitely a galatic day filled with fantasy and fun, that we will never forget. Have you been to Legoland recently and seen all of the new LEGO Star Wars epicness? What did you think? What was your favorite part? Leave a comment below, we'd love to know!
