How Club Penguin Celebrates Halloween

Club Penguin Celebrates Halloween with a Party

Now through October 31, ghosts and goblins are invading Disney’s Club Penguin as the island transforms into Halloween Transylvania for its annual Halloween Party. Those penguins sure like to party, which is cool because so do we!

HALLOWEEN ISLAND

Penguins can put on their spookiest costumes for 2011 Halloween Party featuring the island’s spooktacular transformation, new games and costumes, igloo trick-or-treating and famous penguin meet and greets. Jessica's daughters favorite is the penguin in the witch costume. She keeps saying, "I want to play with the witch, I want to play with the witch." LOL. Speaking of Cute Costumes we cozied up to a few Club Penguins last week at a Halloween Costume Party with Disney Interactive. Pretty Adorable... Oh and the penguins are cute too!

Did you know that  Club Penguin has just "launched" their first mobile app, Puffle Launch, which is based on the popular Puffle Launch game from the virtual world. Everything you loved about the game online is now apart of Disney Mobile, for Magic on the Go! It's now available for iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch for $0.99. You can find it in the iTunes Store. And also for android devices as well.

Full Disclosure: This is not a paid post. We were invited to a Halloween Bash from DIMG to play the games.

Celebrate Autumn at Pixie Hollow

Tinkerbell is one of the most beloved Disney Characters of all time.
Now there's a special place to play with Tinkerbell and all of the Disney Fairies at Pixie Hollow.Com

Here's some of the fairy-tastic things that you can do when you fly into the virtual world of Pixie Hollow:

Create your own Fairy
Explore the Meadows and make Friends
Shop for the latest Fairy Fashions
Get a Fairy Make-Over
Play Games
Make Fairy Friends
Throw a Pixie Party

We participated in some in some Fairy Fun the other evening with our friends at Disney Interactive
Making some special treats of our own. Anytime you add frosting into the mix, especially with Fairies, you're bound to have a sweet time! Look at how lovely our Pixie Hollow Tree turned out. (We are very proud of our cookie decorating skills!)

Halloween Time at Pixie Hollow

Just like the Disney Sisters, all of the fairies are also busy celebrating the autumn events going on now in Pixie Hollow. (It's one of their busiest times of year - well other than Spring, Winter & Summer - HA!) The Animal Masquerade has begun so fairies and sparrow men are putting on their critterific costumes and are getting the trick or treating started. (We just LOVE their tiny costumes - pictures above) Jack o’ Lanterns throughout the Hollow offer spook-tacular and tasty treats and there are plenty of games to play to win tons of fun items!

Along with collecting “Trick or Treat” Silly Sweets Disney Fairies fans have a chance to win a designers dream grand prize by entering the "Sweet Treat Design Contest". To enter the contest just design any Pixie Hollow home item inspired by an edible sweet treat, it could be a cotton candy sofa or a lollipop mirror. (*enter by noon on Nov 1, 2011*)

Halloween Crafts and Recipes with Disney Family.Com

Yesterday we showed you all about how to create your very own Disney character pumpkin, like Jack Skellington using the free Disney pumpkin carving templates.

Today we'd like to talk about other things you can make and bake over at Disney Family.com

All October long they have been celebrating the 31 Days of Halloween Activities with magical ideas to make your holiday Disney Spooktacular! Like a Mickey Mouse Flashlight Cover to help light your way while Trick-Or-Treating. (Cute)

Last week we attended a Halloween Bash hosted by Disney Interactive Media Group. (more about the games soon - Disney Universe anyone?) We learned all about how many fun and festive activities available on Disney Family.com. It really is the online Halloween Headquarters!

Here are just some of the delightful things that you will find:

(pictured below are the Mickey's Pumpkin Patch)

Here's an example of how the Disney Sisters use Disney Family.com:

When Jessica's daughter Kaia brought home a blank ghost from school and said the teacher told us to decorate this with some help from our parents. She knew she didn't have to look far for some inspiration. She went to Disney Family.com and came across her favorite Halloween craft:
They added some ears & a few bats to the project & it came out adorable!  (pictured below)

To check out all the Disney Halloween fun, visit Disney Family.com/Holidays.

And here's a little sneak peek of Thanksgiving Crafts to be thankful for.

Full Disclosure: We were not compensated in any way for this post. We were invited to a Halloween Bash from DIMG. The views reflected on this post are those of the Disney Sisters only.

Pumpkin Carving Disney Style

Ever wonder how the Disneyland Resort gets their pumpkins to look so amazing?
It's all Disney magic, but we've found the secret on Disney Family.com. You would totally impress all of your friends if you carved out this Disney Magic. Twenty templates are offered for characters including Mickey and Friends, Jack Skellington, Phineas and Ferb, and the newest Disney Princess, Rapunzel. It's easy you can download and print templates to use, and you too could have your pumpkins be the talk of your neighborhood.

If you've never been to Disney Family this is the perfect holiday to get acquainted with it. All October long, it's the 31 Days of Disney Crafts and Recipes to get your house or Halloween Party all decked out. Get the top 30 Disney Halloween printables HERE. But this site isn't just for Halloween, they have info and ideas on everything you may need as a parent, teacher or disney fan. Every season, every occasion, birthdays, even unbirthdays! They also have great info on Parenting and Travel. It's the perfect online family go-to destination.

Winnie the Pooh and a Giveaway too!

Deep in the hundred acre wood,
where Christopher Robin plays.
You'll find the enchanted neighborhood,
of Christopher's childhood days.
- Winnie the Pooh Theme Song
(written by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman)

Disney's all-new "Winnie The Pooh" movie hits the stores today, October 25th, and to celebrate we're giving away a Blu-Ray / DVD Combo Pack to one of our readers! Hip Hip Hooray!

That silly old bear and his friends from the Hundred Acre Wood are back for more adventures with Christopher Robin. This time Eeyore has lost his tail, and Christopher Robin goes missing. So Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Piglet, Owl, Kanga, Roo and Eeyore set out on a wild quest to find their friend, a tail and to save the day.

Adding this new Winnie the Pooh movie to our Disney collection was a no brainer. We have always loved Pooh and all of his friends. His kind and gentle nature. His friendship with piglet and Christopher Robin. This movie has a great soundtrack too, with 3 songs sung by the talented actress and singer, Zooey Deschanel that you won't want to miss. There is something very special about Winnie the Pooh, that is unlike most other Disney animated movies... Can you guess what it is?
There is no evil villian. No cruel lead trying to harm or kill the main character. No scary parts in the film where our younger kids may turn away or cover their eyes. As parents who love Disney, certain scenes in some of their movies can be a little frightening for the littlest ones in the family. But Winnie the Pooh does not have any dark side to it. It's just "Stuffed with Fluff" and a whole lot of honey. Something that all moms and dads can appreciate!
And here's something else you can really appreciate... You can win your very own copy of the movie. Save it until December if you'd like, it would make a great holiday gift!

Make your own Jake and the Never Land Pirates Costume

Yo-Ho Ho and a Bucket of Candy!
With Halloween less than 2 weeks away, we are all busy trying to figure out unique costume ideas for our kids. There are so many different options this year, it's hard to choose. Pirates have always been and will always be a very popular choice. Especially with the Disney Channel hit Jake and the Never Land Pirates on Disney Junior, and of course the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Our friend Jasmine aka So You Think You Can Mom recently threw a Jake and the Never Land Pirates Party and all of the little Pirates had a swash-bucklin' good time!

Here on Disney Sisters we've covered everything from How to Talk Like A Pirate, to Mermaid MakeUp, and even had an Interview with Sharky and Bones. Now it's time to show you how to Dress Like a Pirate! Yay-Hay!

Disney asked one of their costume designers Zachary Bilemdjian to come up with some quick, easy and affordable instructions on how to create Jake, Izzy and Cubby costumes at home!  (These costumes are not currently available in stores) Zachary is an expert, having worked as the costume designer on the new live-action music videos with The Never Land Pirate Band for the second season of "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" premiering in early 2012.

Here's how to make your own Jake and the Never Land Pirates Costumes:

JAKE COSTUME

Materials:
Red fabric 17” square or bandana
Grey fabric (long enough to wrap around your child's waist)
Black yarn or ribbon
Yellow duct tape
4 large buttons
White T-shirt
Dark blue vest or jacket
Blue jeans or pants
Brown boots
Brown cardboard

Instructions:
1. Cut out collar ribbing on white T-shirt and remove
2. Make a V shaped cut in center front of the collar
3. Make a few V shaped cuts in the sleeve
4. Using a needle with a big eye, thread the black yarn or ribbon. Stitch an X center front V at collar
5. If using a dark blue jacket, cut out the sleeves to turn it into a vest
6. Use the yellow duct tape to cover the buttons and attach to vest
7. Tape the outline of the vest using the yellow duct tape. Don’t forget the lapel
8. Cut out a “J” from the yellow duct tape, and attach to the boots.
9. Add a yellow strap on the boots using the yellow duct tape
10: Draw a sword shape on the cardboard and cut out

Putting it all together:
1. Wrap the red fabric or bandana around forehead leaving the tails long
2. Tuck T-shirt in the blue pants or jeans
3. Wrap the grey fabric at waist and tuck the tails in the back
4. Add the vest and boots
5: Grab your sword and Go!

IZZY COSTUME

Materials:
Dark pink fabric 24”
Yellow fabric scrap
Small rock
Brown cord or yarn
White fabric marker
Gold hoop earrings
Light pink tunic or T-shirt
Light purple leggings or tights
Light colored boots

Instructions:
1.Cut the dark pink fabric into a 22” square and two 2” strips
2. Using the white fabric pen, create squiggle and dot design around the edges of the dark pink fabric square
3. Place the small rock in the center of the yellow fabric. Take each of the four corners together to form a small pouch around the rock.
4. Using the brown cord or yarn, wrap it around the pouch leaving long tails. Knot the ends to form a necklace

Putting it all together:
1. Fold dark pink fabric square in half to form a triangle. Wrap turban style around head, leaving long tails in the back
2. Using the dark pink strips as ties, form two pig tails with your child's hair
3. Wear T-shirt or tunic un-tucked
4. If using light purple pants, tuck into boots
5. Don’t forget your pixie dust!

CUBBY COSTUME

Materials:
Blue fabric 22” square
Orange fabric scrap

Disney Sisters Interview David Arquette On Dancing With The Stars

The Disney Sisters love Dancing with the Stars!
And we especially love David Arquette & Kym Johnson ~ Team GoodTimes!
Remember when we first met David at the D23 Expo?
Click Here for that fun interview.

Last week we went to see a taping of DWTS, and got a chance to interview David and Kym together. We talked about things like Dancing, Disneyland and some Daughterly Advice. (from Coco)
They were really fun to chat with and we all had a "Good Time." We definitely see where their team name comes from.

It was Week 4, so many things happened that night. Susan Boyle and Raphael Saadiq performed. Julianne Hough also returned to the ballroom to cut loose & do some Footloose and fancy free dancing! There were plenty of celebs in the audience like Billy Baldwin and Paul Reubens to name a few. The sad part of the night came at the end when Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani got eliminated. Before the show started, the warm-up guy Cory invited us out onto the dance floor to get down in a huge dance party! It was totally amazing to dance on the actual ballroom floor where so many stars have danced before us.

When David is not Dancing With The Stars with his beautiful partner Kym, you can hear him as the voice of Skully, the Parrot from Jake And The Never Land Pirates from Disney Junior on the Disney Channel.
