Disney Sisters: Tis the Season for Holiday Magic at Disney

Tis the Season for Holiday Magic at Disney

An important part of being a mom, is keeping the magic of the holiday season alive in our children's hearts for as long as possible. These days kids grow up too quickly and it's  hard to watch them believe more in reality and less in childlike fantasy as they journey into young adulthood. (Take it from each of us, our older children are in the teenage years and things have sure changed.)

Disneyland is a place that always brings back enchantment, especially during the holidays. From the minute you approach the gates your eyes are met with a wintery wonderland. It is one of our favorite ways to get in the spirit of the season and to celebrate our inner child with our children. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 1: Make sure to get a photo of your family in front of the huge tree on Main Street. Do yourself a favor and have the photo pass cast member take the photo of your whole family, (with your camera) that way everyone is included in the picture!

Every year we Fa-La-La our way down Main Street, oohing and ahhing over the festive decor and dressed windows. If you listen closely, you can even hear Christmas music playing in different areas throughout the park.

New Orleans Square is adorned with beads hanging from the gates, and you feel as though you have just stepped into Mardi Gras, masks, skeletons and all. It's where one of our favorite "remixed" attraction lives, Haunted Mansion Holiday, which is a must-see ride every year. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 2: One of the best places for a picturesque holiday card is right in the middle where Royal Street and New Orleans Street meet. Below Club 33.)

Whether it be or dancing reindeer, roller skating snowflakes or Jolly old Saint Nick himself there is an endless amount of Christmas Fantasy in the Holiday Parade. You can see all of your favorite Disney Princesses, Mickey and Minnie ice skating together, the whole Toy Story gang, even Santa and Mrs. Claus!

Once it becomes dusk, they light up it's a Small World, transforming it into It's A Small World Holiday. The thousands of lights twinkle and the clock is adorned with a Santa Hat. It's the most gorgeous display of colorful lights that we look forward to seeing each year.

The Sleeping Beauty's Castle lights up at night turning it into the most sparkling, twinkly castle in all the land. During the day you can see it covered in snow and icicles. Disney Sisters Photo Tip 3: The Castle is a wonderful backdrop for the classic family portrait at Disneyland during the holidays. Add in some extra character after you've gotten the regular smiling shot, by doing a "jump"photo. Count to 3 and have your entire family JUMP! You won't believe how different and hilarious it will turn out and kids love doing it.

The music and fireworks show always delight, but it's the snow that quietly falls on Main Street at the end that really one of everyone's favorite part about Holiday time at Disneyland. Especially for us Southern Californians, snow is a unique and wonderful thing!

We have made going to Disneyland during the holidays a family tradition for more than 5 years. It's a special event that we all look forward to all year long. We are building memories full of magic that we hope our children will remember forever. What are the traditions that you carry on with your family during the holidays?

Did you know that Disney California Adventure gets all decked out for the holidays too?  And they even have SANTA!!! We'll soon be sharing our trip to DCA, Buena Vista Street, Cars Land and all that's newly decorated at the "other half" of the Disneyland Resort

Disclosure: We were invited to a Holiday Blogger Event at the Disneyland Resort which got us into the spirit of the season. We were also given a gift bag. This post was inspired by things seen and heard throughout our magical day. The thoughts shared here are Disney Sisters' only.
